If you are visiting this website then either you or a loved one has suffered the loss of or injury to an eye. You can rest assured that we will help you all we can by providing an empathetic, confidential, tactful, sensitive professional service. We are passionate about what we do. We know that an ocular prosthesis (artificial eye or cosmetic shell) is not only a prosthesis (a medical device that replaces lost tissue), we know that it is also an orthosis (a medical device that supports tissue). We also know how important it is for our patients' self esteem and we appreciate the huge effect it has on our patients' day to day life. It is a vital part in our patients' full rehabilitation. An ocular prosthesis requires on going management - routine annual repolishing and assessment. Replacements are required in a timely fashion to keep pace with the inevitable changes that will occur throughout life due to growth and development in the case of children and ageing in adulthood. If surgery is considered or required we can advise you and refer you on to our Oculoplastic surgical colleagues if necessary.
